Salt, the first word you think of when someone mentions Guérande. This product comes from a savoir-faire unique, which highlights its quality. In Guérande, the salt worker's trade is passed down from generation to generation.

A city rich in history

Guérande is also a cit; médiévale rich in history as well as a colossal castle. Its narrow streets, restaurants and shops selling local produce are sure to delight the whole family for just a moment! 

And don't miss the château de Careil. At the gateway to the salt marshes of Guérande and just a stone's throw from La Baule, the Château de Careil, listed as a Monuments historiques, hides a tumultuous past. Although it looks like a Renaissance manor house, the building almost makes you forget that it was once a defensive site. A Protestant stronghold in the 16th century, it will take you back to the troubled times of the Wars of Religion.
